3 Work to Weekend Outfits

Sweater: J. Crew Factory | Shorts: Old Navy | Sneakers: DSW

Almost everything in my closet can be worn multiple ways! I especially like to buy pieces I can wear to work and then dress down for the weekend as well. Often times the switch from workwear to casual can be as easy as swapping dress pants for denim. Other times you may need to swap out layering pieces as well as bottoms and shoes.

Today I want to show you 3 tops that can be worn to the office or on the weekend.

  1. Peplum Top: This top (or any peplum top) can easily be styled for work or the weekend. For work, pair it with dress pants or a pencil skirt, heels and some nice jewelry and you are ready to conquer the day. After work, swap out the dress pants for denim and you’re good to go! This top is easy to transition from work to casual. Check out my Instagram to see how I recently wore this top casually with the cutest maroon hair scarf!

2. Chunky Sweater: For the office, layer your sweater with a collared shirt and pair it with dress pants and heels. Over the weekend, grab a denim jacket, jeans and booties and you are ready for a casual date or a Target run!

3. Tailored Sweater: I especially like this exact sweater because of the light weight material. I also really like how the collar and sweater are all one piece. This is not two separate tops. At the office, this sweater would go nicely with dress pants, chinos or a skirt. For the weekend, swap the dress pants for shorts or denim, add some sneakers or booties and go run those errands.

Whether you’re conquering the work day or checking off everything on your weekend to-do list, I know you’re going to look cute doing it! Go do your thing, girl. You rock!

A “Fat” Size 0 — The Story Behind My Favorite Jeans

Sweater: Abercrombie | Jeans: Abercrombie | Shoes: (Similar) | Earrings: J. Crew Factory

I recently spent the whole day shopping with my mom and I mentioned on Instagram that this trip was “good for my soul.” I want to explain this in more detail.

Love my husband for supporting me and putting up with my crazy!

This was one of the first times I did not have a mini meltdown after having to size up at one of my favorite stores (I sized up because my old size was too small, not because I wanted a looser fit). In the past, instead of sizing up and having the clothes fit in a more flattering way, I would try to squeeze myself into the ill-fitting clothes or just walk away from the purchase all together. Let’s be honest, I have always been “blessed” with a small frame, but I never feel skinny or fit enough. Some days I don’t even want to go out, because I feel so insecure. This has been a life long battle that I have been relying on the Lord, my supportive husband and family to help me get through.

I eat healthy most of the time and workout, but it never seems to help me achieve the look I am striving for. I scroll through my Insta feed and see girls with six pack abs and think to myself “Even just having a flat stomach would make me happy.” On the flip side, I see women with beautiful curves who embrace their shapely bodies and I find myself wishing I had bigger boobs, a curvier booty and their confidence!

Being a woman of God, I need to focus on my inner beauty and truly embrace how He made me. It has taken 26 years to get here, and I am definitely still working on this (baby steps!), but I want to encourage you to accept your body the way it is! Just be your healthy, beautiful self!

In the pictures above, I am wearing the jeans I sized up on. They are easily my new favorite jeans! They are a perfect color for the transition to spring and are comfortable too. It was SO worth getting over my insecurities and buying the right size for my body!
