The PERFECT Fall Poncho Sweater

Sweater: Loft | Jeans: Old Navy | Boots: Similar

Fall is officially here, finally! Now if only the weather truly felt like fall! HA! Oh well, I’ll take the warmth over snow any day! If you really want to get into the spirit of fall, go find your self a great poncho or oversized sweater!! Something about wearing that soft, cozy sweater makes me super ready for pumpkin patches and apple cider!

Before we get too deep into fall, do yourself a favor and be sure to grab a cozy poncho! Ponchos and oversized sweaters scream fall and are great for winter too! One of the things I love about ponchos is they look classy and put together, but are so cozy and still feel comfortable.

I especially like this poncho because it’s soft, comfortable and light weight. I also really like the fall colored stripes. I think this would make a great Thanksgiving sweater! The turtle neck detail on this sweater is perfect! It’s just the right mix of classy and comfortable. I did not feel smothered in this turtle neck AT ALL. I also like that you can wear this sweater front tucked or untucked. Overall, I am a huge fan of this sweater. I cannot wait to wear it to the pumpkin patch!

Here are a couple other ponchos I’m crushing on:

Happy Fall!! I hope you enjoy all your pumpkin spice, caramel apples and football days! I know I will! 🙂

I’m Seeing Spots! Let’s Talk Leopard Print

Sweater: J.Crew Factory | Dress: Similar | Shoes: Similar

It’s easy to see leopard print has been a BIG hit this year (and last year)! If you’re like me you have leopard print tops, sweaters, shoes, bows, etc! I love leopard print because it can easily be dressed up or down and it’s great for almost any occasion. A pop of leopard print can add a lot of pizazz to a simple outfit.

I especially like this sweater, because of the dainty, leopard print trim. I think this adds a cute, feminine touch to an otherwise plain sweater. This top can be styled so many ways!! Throw it on with jeans and sneakers for errands or knot it over a dress for a more dressy look. However you style it, you will be right on trend with the leopard print. The thick, well made sweater is exactly what you need to stay cute and warm this fall and winter!

Here are some of my top leopard print picks for this season:

I cannot wait to rock more leopard this fall and winter! I hope this helps you stock your closet full of leopard print fun!

Varsity Sweater Weather — 1 Sweater 5 Ways

Sweater: Old Navy | Shorts: Abercrombie (Similar) | Boots: Marc Fisher

It’s almost that time of year!! Time to curl up in a cozy sweater, drink your PSL and watch some football with your man. I recently added this varsity stripe cardigan to my closet and I already love it so much! I feel it’s perfect for football games and pumpkin patches. It’s the perfect cardigan for all your fall festivities.

This exact cardigan is from the girls department. I walked by it heading to the fitting room and I fell in love. I figured I would give the extra large a try just to see! I was so happy to find it fit great (For reference, I am 5’5 and 113 lbs)!! I probably could’ve fit in the large also. This girls sweater goes up to XXL. It comes in two other colors: navy and maroon. Each one is great for fall, but I was drawn to this gray with the fun yellow stripe.

If you are worried about ordering a girls size sweater, here are a couple other varsity sweaters I like!

Here are 5 ways to style 1 Sweater:

  1. Over a Dress: For a dressier look, throw your cardigan over a dress and pair it with some booties. This is a great look for date night or church.
  2. Mom Jeans: For game day, grab your favorite pair of mom/boyfriend jeans and you are ready to go! This casual look is great for all of your fall activities.
  3. Leggings: This is the most comfy way to wear this sweater. Leggings and cardigans are perfect for curling up on the couch or running some last minute, game day errands.
  4. Skirt: Another way to dress this sweater up, is pairing it with a fun skirt! This is another great look for date night or church.
  5. Shorts (Shown in above photos): As the season changes, pairing this cardigan with shorts and knee boots is a great way to stay warm and be trendy before it gets too chilly out. This is a fun look is great for girls night out!

Next time you are in the girls section, maybe give something a try! You may be surprised how well it actually fits! I am so happy I found this sweater.

Fall Favorites

For me, Labor Day always feels like the official end of summer. Pools close, school buses are on the roads, pumpkin spice is everywhere and the air begins to cool. At the same time, many retailers begin bringing out their fall clothing and home decor! I do love the fun and warmth of summer time, but autumn is by far my favorite season!

With it being Labor Day weekend, I decided I would round up some of my fall favorites. Some of the items are essential to fall, others are just cute! This will only touch the surface, because I know more fall pieces will begin to unfold as we get further into the season.

“Olive” this shirt so much! Okay, that “olive” pun may be a little cheesy, but I really do love this top! The light weight material is great while we finish up summer and it’s easy to transition into fall. 6 Months of Blogging — About Time I Introduce Myself!

Denim Jacket | Dress (Similar, Similar) | Sneakers

I am excited to say, today marks the 6 month anniversary of my blog, Brittany Tierre! I started this blog to share my everyday, practical style like the outfit in the photos above. After 6 months of blogging, I still have not officially introduced myself, so today is the day! Better late than never, right? Along with sharing some fun things about my personal life, I am also going to share a few things I have learned about blogging so far.

Thanks for all your help, Babe! Xoxo

My blog would not be what it is today if not for my husband. I should really refer to this as “our” blog. He is the one who gave me the courage to begin my blogging journey. He also encourages me daily and takes all my photos. If that’s not enough, he helps proofread my posts and keeps an eye on my Instagram account.

My husband and I met in 1st grade! Can you believe it!? He was actually my first ever boyfriend in middle school. We never dated in high school, because we did not want to “ruin our friendship.” Fast forward to college and we decided to give dating a try. Now we have been married for 3 and a half years! We do not have any children yet, but we do have a fluffy, little goldendoodle pup, Blossom. She is full of energy and brings so much joy to our lives.

When I am not blogging, I am working full-time as a graphic designer at a Christian radio station here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I knew at an early age I wanted a career in design, and I feel truly blessed to be where I am today. For fun, I like to exercise, hangout with my mom and sister (and her sweet kiddos) and shop! Oh, I also love coffee! Iced coffee is my favorite, but I drink my fair share of hot coffee too.

My blogging journey has only just begun, but I have learned so much already. Not only have I learned a lot about blogging, I have also learned things about myself.

  1. Blogging is fun, but it’s hard! For the most part, blogging is great! I truly enjoy sharing styling tips, keeping up with sales and meeting new people through social media. That being said, some days after working a full-time job, I simply don’t feel like “being cute” and taking pictures. Some days I just want to sit on the couch and be with my husband without worrying about any unread comments. On those days, I am thankful for my husband’s support and the love you all send my way on social media. You are the ones who keep me going on the days I am just not “feelin’ it.” So, THANK YOU!
  2. Blogging creates new relationships. I do not have the large number of followers on my blog or social media like some major influencers have and that’s okay! I am extremely thankful for every single one of the followers/friends I do have. I have learned you all are the sweetest humans ever! I feel like I have gained so many new friends over this 6 month period. This community is so kind. You go out of your way to send encouraging messages or engage on my content. I am forever grateful to have “met” you!
  3. I am defined by my relationship with God, not the number of followers I have (I knew this before blogging, but I am reminded of this more often now). Before blogging, I loved to follow and read other blogs. I would interact on their feed when I liked something, but for the most part I just enjoyed reading what they had to say and admired their pretty outfits. Now that I have my own blog, some days it’s hard to remember I am not defined by the number of followers or “likes” I have. I remind myself daily that I am blogging because I truly enjoy it. I enjoy sharing outfits and finding good deals. I enjoy the relationships I have made over the past 6 months. It’s so easy to be so excited to share a new post, only to find you’re not getting much interaction on it. You cannot let that get you down! Be excited about your posts! If you’re excited about it, it doesn’t matter if you do not get the “likes” you were hoping to get. If you are not a blogger, this applies to you too. Blogger or not, we are not defined by what other people like or say about us or by the number of followers/friends we have. We are however, defined by our relationship with God and who he made us to be.
Thank you all for your love and support!

I could go on and on about the people I love in my life or my love of blogging, but you all have been reading long enough! Before I wrap this up, I just want to thank YOU for following along! I appreciate every view, comment and friend. You all make this experience so much fun and I cannot wait to see what the future holds! Here is to 6 more months and many more after that!

3 Work to Weekend Outfits

Sweater: J. Crew Factory | Shorts: Old Navy | Sneakers: DSW

Almost everything in my closet can be worn multiple ways! I especially like to buy pieces I can wear to work and then dress down for the weekend as well. Often times the switch from workwear to casual can be as easy as swapping dress pants for denim. Other times you may need to swap out layering pieces as well as bottoms and shoes.

Today I want to show you 3 tops that can be worn to the office or on the weekend.

  1. Peplum Top: This top (or any peplum top) can easily be styled for work or the weekend. For work, pair it with dress pants or a pencil skirt, heels and some nice jewelry and you are ready to conquer the day. After work, swap out the dress pants for denim and you’re good to go! This top is easy to transition from work to casual. Check out my Instagram to see how I recently wore this top casually with the cutest maroon hair scarf!
Top (Also comes in black and white) | Dress Pants | Denim | Heels

2. Chunky Sweater: For the office, layer your sweater with a collared shirt and pair it with dress pants and heels. Over the weekend, grab a denim jacket, jeans and booties and you are ready for a casual date or a Target run!

Sweater (Also comes in pink and black) | Pants | Denim(Similar) | Jacket | Heels | Booties

3. Tailored Sweater: I especially like this exact sweater because of the light weight material. I also really like how the collar and sweater are all one piece. This is not two separate tops. At the office, this sweater would go nicely with dress pants, chinos or a skirt. For the weekend, swap the dress pants for shorts or denim, add some sneakers or booties and go run those errands.

Sweater (Also comes in black and navy) | Pants | Shorts | Sneakers

Whether you’re conquering the work day or checking off everything on your weekend to-do list, I know you’re going to look cute doing it! Go do your thing, girl. You rock!

Little Black Dress 6 Ways — From Summer to Fall

Dress: Target | T-Shirt: Target | Booties: (Similar, Splurge | Similar, Save) | Necklace: (Similar) | Earrings: (Similar)

Everyone loves a little black dress! They are always so flattering and versatile. Today, I am sharing my new favorite little black dress! This exact dress is super soft and comfortable (I really wish you could feel how soft this dress is! I tried to zoom in to show the softness of the fabric, so pay close attention to the photos above!). The fuzzy, knit material can be worn now as we finish up summer or into fall, because it is a warmer material (not too warm for summer). I love the little button detail, as well as the tiered look. If you love this dress as much as I do and need to buy more colors (I am strongly considering doing this), it also comes it grey, maroon and lavender! Each one is super cute. This dress is only $20 and can be worn in a variety of ways. I have styled it fairly casually, but you could easily throw on heels or wedges to dress it up a little bit.

6 Ways to Style 1 Dress:

  1. Tie Around Your Waist: This summer, wear the dress as is or tie a jacket or cardigan around your waist for added interest. This easy trick will spice up your look!
  2. Denim Jacket: For summer nights or early fall days, add a denim jacket to this dress! Any denim jacket will work: dark, light, white, embroidered, etc.!
  3. Long Cardigan: For a little less casual look, throw on your favorite long cardigan with booties or heels. This is a cute look for date night! Perfect as we transition from summer to fall.
  4. As a top: This dress can double as a top!! I love getting the most wear out of my pieces as possible. Tuck this top into your high-waisted skinny jeans and now you have a cute top! Throw on boots and cardigan and you have another great date night look.
  5. As a skirt: Another fun piece to pair with this dress is a pull over sweater or sweatshirt. You can tie your sweater into a knot and make this dress look more like a skirt. This is a fun way to wear your summer dresses into fall.
  6. T-shirt (shown above): This summer, you can wear your graphic or striped t-shirt under this dress for a fun, edgy look. As we move into fall, a tight, white, long sleeve shirt would look cute under this dress.
1. Sneakers | 2. Sneakers | 4. Boots, Jeans | 5. Sneakers (Black)

As always, be sure to let me know which is your favorite look! Next time you go for your little black dress, think of creative ways to style it. Getting dressed is more fun that way 🙂

How to Transition Summer Pieces into Fall

As much as I am enjoying summer (and am way to hot to wear fall pieces at this time), now is the time to start thinking about how to transition some of your favorite summer pieces into your fall wardrobe! As the stores begin to bring in the new fall items, the summer pieces go on major sale. I want to show you how you can shop the summer sales and continue wearing those pieces into fall. I am a big fan of finding pieces I can wear now and then (fall).

6 Summer to Fall Transition Pieces:

  1. Up first are lightweight cardigans or kimonos. You can easily wear these with shorts and a tank now, then pair them with jeans and boots later in fall.
Kimono/Cardigan: Loft

2. Button front tops are super popular this summer and will continue to be trendy into fall. Throw on your top with shorts and sandals now and then jeans and booties later (maybe grab a cardigan too!)

Top: Madewell

3. I am sure you have a lace cami! It seems like everyone does. This has been such a hot trend over the summer. You can pair your lace cami with almost anything, so it’s super easy to wear during summer and into fall. This summer I have worn my cami with denim shorts, paperbag shorts, paper bag pants and skirts! For fall, you can wear your cami with dress pants, denim, skirts, denim jackets, blazers and probably a dozen other ways!

Lace Cami: Abercrombie

4. A good striped tank always comes in handy! Stripes are so fun and can be paired with many different styles and patterns. Stripes really are good for any season. I particularly like this tank because of the fun colors and texture.

Striped Tank: Madewell

5. Graphic t-shirts are always a good idea, no matter what season we are in! Wearing a graphic tee automatically makes you look more trendy and cool! This summer I wore my graphic tee with shorts, skirts and dresses along with sneakers and sandals! This fall you can wear your tee with all your denim, jackets and cardigans! They go well with booties and sneakers too.

Graphic T-Shirt: Target

6. This sleeveless button down top has been one of my most worn pieces this summer. It is so easy to dress up or down! If you missed my earlier post, I shared 6 Ways to Style Your Sleeveless Button Down. That post gives you a variety of dressy or casual ways to style your top. This fall, use it as a layering piece! It goes well under sweaters and sweatshirts because it’s not bulky like a long sleeve button up. The sleeveless top keeps you a little cooler too.

Sleeveless Button Up: H&M

I have had fun styling my summer pieces for fall, but I am still holding on to whatever summer we have left! I hope this helps you shop any summer sales you see pop up! Get creative so you can have new pieces for summer and fall at a better price.

Summer Fruit Print Trend

Top: Old Navy, Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar, Similar (Sale) | Earrings: Target

Although summer may be halfway over, it’s not over yet! There is still plenty of time to enjoy your favorite summer trends. One of my favorite trends this summer has been fruit print! There is something about wearing fruit that just makes me happy. It is such a fun print and screams summer.

Summer Vacation

The top I am wearing in the photos above is one of my favorites. If you look closely, you can see the print is made up of bananas, limes and palm leaves. If you still have a summer vacation coming up, this top would be perfect for your trip! I wore it on my summer vacation and had so much fun. Not only do I love the fruit filled print, I also find the button and sleeve details to be super cute and feminine. This top can be worn with shorts, jeans or a tight mini skirt (or dress).

I have also been wearing a watermelon dress and a cherry print top this summer! Both prints are fun and flirty.

Here are a few other fruity pieces I have been crushing on!

Don’t let summer pass you by without trying out this fruity trend! I would love to hear which fruit print is your favorite!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, loves!
